4 Black women, mainly Mary Thomas, better known as Queen Mary on the Virgin Islands lead Danmarks first workers union rebellion and conflict. These true heroines have been written out of Danish History. Now we aim to reinscribe them.

Prison to Unveiling

We shall meet at what was once The Women’s prison by Christianshavn Metro - Present day, Lagkagehuset. The 4 St Croix Queens were incarcerated here.

From here we will walk in unity towards the unvieling of the I Am Queen Mary monument , made by the 2 artists Jeannette Ehlers and La Vaughn Belle. It is right beside and the same size as the huge David sculpture, right in front of The Royal Cast Collection, on the water front.
